Our marching band goes every few years on a large band trip. This year they will be going to Washington DC to march and play in the Cherry Blossum parade. We are fund raising and since my daughter is in band (first year) and my DH is on the booster committee, I offered to make the tshirt quilt. I designed the middle part, and it says, YHS, Band and Color Guard and is all appliqued and embroidered. I still have one more line of tshirts that should be on the bottom. (I am waiting for this year's tshirt from the band teacher) I am going to try to find some more music fabric for the back, (still looking). Just wanted to show this off.

I love it.....My girls were in the Marching Band and the trips were the best!! Good Luck with the music fabric...It can be a challenge to find, but its out there.
|
Wow its going to look great when finished...and good luck in Washington DC .

I believe that Gail Kessler who designs for Andover and has Ladyfingers Sewing Studio in Oley, PA has some with musical instruments on it, and also some with musical notes. Try googling her name and see what you might find. Looks great so far...they will be sooo happy with it and it should make lots for the band.

It's a great looking quilt so far. My son is in the HS marching band. He's a senior now, so has done quite a bit with his band these past three years already.
|
WOW-great job!

Someone will be very fortunate to win that quilt! T-shirt quilts are fun...I'm getting my third one ready to sandwich...

Wow, I love it! Huge former Marching Band gal, so I love that sort of thing. You'll have to show the entire thing once it's done!

I found the backing fabric on sale at Joanns so I purchased the black and white notes. Thanks for all the compliments. Took it to quilting guild last night and they liked it too.

Great quilt, especially love the sunglass block!

I have been waiting for this years tshirt from the band guy, and it never came, so I finished up the last four blocks (One was tyedyed "Flutes, We're kind of a BIG deal!") and it is on the frame. Figured out the sashing quilting but still practicing the meandering with music notes and clef, and things like that.

Well it is done, but delivered it before I could get a picture. thank goodness the guild took a picture, maybe she can send me one of those.
