great quilt.............

My son drew all of the pictures to fit a 10" block. I then traced and transferred them to fusable web. What took the most time is that I hand embroidered all the black outline and inner detail.

I've never been in a "quilt shop". I've sewn my whole life and just get fabric where I find it, usually end up at Joanne's.

I hope his future bride has a sense of humor. I can see her now having to sleep under that quilt. Your son obviously loves it and so he should. You did a wonderful job. Congratulations on your well deserved ribbon.

Yes, it is very sad the State Fair is ending. It was the oldest and longest running state fair in the country. I remember going with my grandmother. They had gone thru a really hard time several years ago because no one was attending because quality had really gone down. However, the last several years were pretty good. Lots of things I loved were gone though. The Detroit Mounted Horse Patrol always did a great performance and they are no longer together. The horse show was always a high point and the quality of that seemed less. There were always lots and lots of entries in the Community Arts building (where the quilts are) and this year it seemed empty. I know the government can't continue to subsidize everything but this was a very worthwhile event. Lots of us will miss it.
