Now that's a pot of fabric gold.

Wish that I knew how to post pictures.

I walked into a Goodwill a few weeks ago and asked if they had any fabric..."just a bit maybe over in the craft area." They had nothing but, as I was walking out the door, a sales girl stopped me and said that a co-worker had just mentioned that she didn't know what they were going to do with all of this fabric in the back. They brought out 2 grocery carts full of partial bolts of fabric-----some half full for $2.99 and some 1/3 full for $1.99.
Since no one knew the fabric content I needed to test it. You should have seen their faces when I asked if I could have a tiny swatch to set it on fire it to see if it was cotton. Well, the cashier had to ask her manager...(that never happened) so I begged again for just a bit of one bolt---explained to her that cotton burns and poly melts, etc...they didn't get it nor did they care. FINALLY she got sick of me and cut me a 2 inch piece. I KNOW that she thought that I was crazy.....(well, maybe a little)

This gets better...

Since I am not a smoker I was in a jam. I asked several customers if they had matches---of course not. Then remembered that I usually carry a pack of matches in case we need to see in the dark at the boat (Another story).
Well, my matches had been in my purse for so long that the igniter swatch thingy on the pack wouldn't work.
So I went outside and asked a young guy painting a light pole nearby if he had a lighter. Yes he did, but again he was PAINTING (flammable). He handed me his lighter. I had no clue how to use it and couldn't get the darn thing to work (I have never smoked and really didn't know what I was doing).

Finally the painter dude put his paint away and came over to help.
I had to explain why I wanted to burn this piece of fabric....The painter and all of the young girls in the store thought that I was a psycho...LOL!!
ANYWAY after lots of internal giggles on my part---since I knew they thought that I was going to burn down the store..... it was 100% cotton. YEA!!!

I walked out with 14 partial bolts (the black color was almost a full bolt) of red, yellow, burgundy, brown, black, gold for $29. I roughly figured it out..138 yards of fabric for $29---21 cents/yard.
WAS I A HAPPY CAMPER???? Yeah....now to get busy!!!!!!!!

But now they know that cotton burns and poly melts..LOL!

Sailsablazin; That is a great story and a tremendous score!!!!!!!!! I never get that lucky but not sure where I'd put 138 more yards of fabric right now. My kids and sister say I already have too much.
