It's gorgeous. My uncle did a ton of cross stitch quilts before he passed away. He gave most of them away but I was able to get one as a keepsake from my mom.

My mother made a quilt quite similar to that in the late 50s or early 60s. I distinctly remember it on their bed by the mid 60s. Hers was cross stitched in blue and green. Her kit may have come from Herrschner's -- but it also may have come from either Lee Wards or one of the local department stores.

You did a lovely job of rescuing these blocks and making a beautiful quilt. Your hand-quilting sets them off to perfection.

Came out beautifully! Thought I saw something like that at a Lee Wards store years ago. Don't remember the name.

Thanks to a message from a quilter - it appears to be the Interlocking Colonial Block. It is shown on Jack Dempsey's needle work site! So still available.

The picture is shown with it in red and it also shows french knots on all the block - so glad I chose to do an 'outline' around the two main objects! Don't think I could have managed anymore knots!

Funny too since I did not have anything to refer to that it came out almost identical to the one on that site! Hahaha!

What a beauty!! It turned out very nice, lucky for you she didn't want it! You did a great job finishing it.

Great rescue. Your combined efforts really made an heirloom quilt. Just lovely.

You did a beautiful job of completing the quilt....reminds me, I bought a stack of printed blocks from goodwill last year, now I will dig them out and "work" on them....will be good to do at the next election in March ( election judge/very long day)!
