They say that copying is a form of flattery. I was in awe of Chamby's king size rag quilt that she posted in February.
I just knew I had to make one for my bachelor son. The hardest part was collecting the homespun fabrics.
The picture shows up red, but it is burgundy. I cut my fabric squares 10" and my high loft batting 9". It is 91" square, big enough for my son's queen bed.
I sure hope it will keep him warm during those cold Wisconsin winter nights.

I love raggies!!!! Really like the buttons. Did you do the X quilting before or after it was clipped for ragging????

What a great man quilt. He will love it.

The X's are stitched before you sew the blocks together. They are what holds it together while you put the blocks together. When the blocks are all sewn together, you have finished the quilt except for clipping so it will rag. Does this make sense?

Edited to add: Consider this a Quilt-as-you-go quilt.

As I was making my first rags quilts that were supposed to be presents, I ended up getting more fabric cuz I fell in love with one that I had to keep for myself. It keeps me nice and toasty while watching tv.

I agree that a hard part was finding homespun I liked.

Great job!!
