Yesterday’s progress

I finished the center blocks for my French braid quilt. Now I need to decide on the arrangement. Would anyone care to voice their opinion?

broomstix 03-27-2020 08:33 AM

I like the first one. draws eye into center.

Cheshirepat 03-27-2020 08:39 AM

As well, I like the first one. Depends on how much movement you want though, the whole pattern is quite lively, I think the dark-bordered way brings a little more control to it...the last one the least control/the most movement. They're so pretty! :)

ekuw 03-27-2020 09:18 AM

I like the 3rd one. The center looks like a big pinwheel and adds lots of movement just like the braids.

L'il Chickadee 03-27-2020 09:47 AM

Can't make up my mind, I love all three.

Tartan 03-27-2020 10:02 AM

Looking great! I can’t decide as the difficulty is, do you want the braids to blend into the center colours or to be off set?

juliasb 03-27-2020 10:56 AM

And I have to be different because I really like the middle one the Log Cabin in those deep blues adds a very warm feeling to the block center.

RedGarnet222 03-27-2020 11:02 AM

My vote is for number three pinwheel because it make all of the blocks look more centered and like it was a purposeful design. The others look disjointed and confusing to me.

nativetexan 03-27-2020 03:13 PM

Ha! i have to say the third one was the one I clicked on before i realized they were different. so i vote the 3rd one too. very beautiful!

granky 03-27-2020 04:23 PM

Now how could you choose between three such beautiful blocks? Make three quilts??????

Rhonda K 03-27-2020 04:36 PM

I like the center (middle) layout. The darker colors in the the center design ground the quilt. I like how the green looks on the outside.

Each picture has has a very different look depending on close up or further away. It’s beautiful no matter your layout choice.

MicheleC 03-27-2020 05:32 PM

Your work is beautiful! I like the second picture with the blue in the middle as well. The pinwheel layout would be my second vote.

Jingle 03-27-2020 05:40 PM

Very pretty blocks and colors.

northerncreations 03-28-2020 03:21 AM

I love the third one....your color choices are great. Everyone seems to flow together. Great job.

same here...maybe because blue is my favorite color...love how cheerful and bright your fabrics are.

ka9sdn 03-28-2020 04:13 AM

I like the second one with the blues in the center.

luvstoquilt 03-28-2020 05:57 AM

Lovely all of them. I like 1 and 3 best of all. It

Little Lulu 03-28-2020 06:00 AM

I like 1 and 3 better than 2. My choice is 3. However, you can't go wrong with any of them. Just beautiful.

ScubaK 03-28-2020 06:41 AM

Those are all stunning!
I like the dark center, but the light center is wonderful as well.

All three are lovely and would make beautiful quilts. The top border in 2 and 3 needs to be reversed in order to have the green square facing the correct direction as the other three.

nlgh 03-28-2020 11:00 AM

Just had another thought. If the blue diagonal strips were top and bottom and the yellow/green were on each side, keeping the green squares oriented correctly would also give a little more movement to the quilt.

SewingSenior 03-28-2020 11:46 AM

Since I'm partial to blue I'll vote for the 2nd one, but all 3 are awesome and I look forward to seeing more progress pictures. Beautiful work.

SusieQOH 03-28-2020 12:02 PM

You can't go wrong with any arrangement. Beautiful!

ellifour 03-28-2020 03:42 PM

This is my suggestion also. love the pinwhell movement, the borders compliment nicely. the top boder is reversed. Guess this means my favorite is #3.

Tish05 03-28-2020 03:47 PM

I like #1 the best because the center of the block is so bright, but I don't think you can make a mistake. It should be what attracts your eye the most. Beautiful blocks!

audsgirl 03-28-2020 08:50 PM

I think I'm partial to the second one, probably because I love blue, and that one seems to emphasize it. Your blocks all look really cool.

I love the third one

I love the third one

WMUTeach 03-29-2020 02:59 AM

I like one or two. Three has so much movement that my eye lost the sense of the pattern and the beauty and craftsmanship of your work. Just one more opinion!

MamaLinda 03-29-2020 05:31 AM

I lean toward the second one. They are all so lovely that I would have a problem deciding.

I settled on the center configuration and sewed it together. Next decision is whether to have a sashing between the center and the braids.

kalady 03-30-2020 02:58 AM

sashing

I vote for sashing. Love the precision and colors.

nlgh 03-30-2020 04:49 AM

I like the sashing in between, too. It gives the eye a visual stop between the block and the side strips. The blue diagonal strips against the blue in the log cabin confuses my eyes because it isn't easy to distinguish where my eye is to focus. It is easier to focus on the stop in pattern with the yellow/green strips against the blue in the log cabin.

Barb in Louisiana 04-03-2020 02:52 PM

I love your center. Whether you go with the sashing next to the center logs, or on the outside of your first set of braids will be gorgeous. You have brightened up my day with your beautiful quilt. A thought, if you put the sashing next to the 4 center logs, then you can establish a pattern for separating any more borders you want to add. Then you would add another sashing on the outer edge of the flying Geese Braid, etc.

toogie 04-06-2020 08:32 AM

My two cents worth, I like the sashing. Beautiful piece!

Quilter 65 04-07-2020 06:37 PM

I prefer the first one.
