I was sort of challenged earlier today to make a bow tucks with a zipper. Turns out that you will lose all that nice wide opening if you insert a zipper. So I put a 4" strip of velcro between the handles. Also I don't care for the bulk of batting, so I used fusible interfacing. I quilted the pocket and then decided I didn't like that for the rest of the purse; took away from the batik design, so I quilted the bottom part to add stability to it. I haven't put the board in yet. I think I will use that needlepoint plastic mesh stuff, if I have a piece the right size. I am not going shopping again.

Love it!!!

I purchased the pattern, but have not started yet. I figured it was not a 1 hr. project. I waiting for the weather to cool down as I don't like to air condition my sewing room to much. Comfortable sleeping is more important. I sure have enough fabric in my stash to shop for the fabric.

I keep thinking I will have to make one of these but it might get added to the bottom of the list. I really do love your choice of colors though and appreciate your tips on the velcro and the fusible interfacing. Thanks for posting pics.

Well that answered that for me. I made the Lazy Girl Margo bag because it has a zipper and I like them for my purse. I have heard so much about bow tucks on here but I was not sure I would like all my stuff to be so visable. I HAD wondered if a zipper in the bow tuck would work. Thank you for that little experiment!

I just purchased a pattern from Henrietta's...wish I had seen your post first, but hey...we eat my mistakes and wear my mistakes, so nothing new. I do want to do it and I appreciae the tip on the velcro. Still looking for the perfect bag patterns. I don't like big bags...thanks again. fmd36 in NH
