Yet another jellyroll rug!

I jumped on the bandwagon and used up scraps of batting and made strips from my stash. It was fun, but slow going!

Well done!

Another beauty. I guess I am going to have to look at one of the YouTube videos and start me one. Does anyone have a preference or recommendation as to the best video to watch and learn the technique?

Love the bright colors!

Looks great! Wasn't it fun and surprisingly easy?

copycat 09-01-2018 01:56 AM

Oh my..it is so pretty...love the colors you used. Now, would you do another one as you mentioned it was slow going?

javin22 09-01-2018 02:03 AM

That is such a fun project! Thanks for sharing.

jmoore 09-01-2018 02:21 AM

Great job...it’s on my list of things to try. I love how colorful your jelly rug made up.

quilterpurpledog 09-01-2018 05:17 AM

Great rug. Yes, I want to give it a try. I think one would look great in front of the bathroom vanity.

Yes, I would do another one. I think to buy the batting pre-cut on a roll would be a tremendous time saver, but it makes the project very expensive! After all, its just a rug!

I have lots of batting scraps, so I think over the winter I will just cut and piece the batting (with batting tape) a few at a time when I am between projects. I have lots of yardage and a few leftover precut jellyroll strips, and choosing and arranging the fabric strips is so fun (for me anyway). The actual sewing of the rug goes pretty quick!

You need (or maybe 'should') buy the pattern. All the videos will say 'buy the pattern'! I liked the one by RJ designs (Erica Arndt) best, but the more you watch, the more tips you pick up!

Did you have any trouble getting it flat as you were sewing it.?

rosiewell 09-01-2018 08:53 AM

I think it turned out great, I want to do one too.

Rhonda Lee 09-01-2018 10:14 AM

Cute rug. I've done the same thing you did. And I agree with you completely.

madamekelly 09-01-2018 11:59 AM

You did a really nice job on this rug. I am impressed that you blended your outer end so well that I had to look for it.

Teen 09-01-2018 12:43 PM

Very pretty rug!! Love the scrappy look of it....

No. With every bobbin change I would take it to the ironing board and press (with a good soaking of Mary Ellen's Best Press). I also made sure I had a large flat surface to work on. (I used ironing boards to the back and side - even with the bed of my sewing machine.)

That's so pretty! I love your colors.

Looks great!

I love your bright colors! I too will be jumping on the bandwagon this winter. I hesitated making one, because I had no idea where I would put it. But...this weekend we decided to replace the flooring in the cabin...(to go with the new wall coverings and ceiling we're planning....might as well do it all at once!) Currently the kitchen is carpeted, but with new wood floors, it's just the thing I need by the sink and door!

Sallybear6 09-04-2018 05:33 AM

Wow, I love the colors!!

ArtsyOne 09-04-2018 09:16 AM

With every rug posted I get more inspired. I did get my rolls of batting - now I just have to bite the bullet and leap in, hoping that mine turns out as beautiful as the ones we've seen here.

Homemother 10-24-2018 03:22 PM

You have made a very happy rug! Love the colors! Using up those extra batting strips is a great idea. I've got lots sitting around.
