I made this quilt for a friend from his older T-shirts.The green, white and checkered fabric represent the end of the race. Little sprint cars were embroidered into the sashing blocks to break up the whiteness of it. I used a varigated orange red yellow thread to quilt flames all over on my home machine. It is a king sized quilt. The label was designed using SewWhatPro and the flag design from emlibrary. There was over 17 hours of fmq in this big one.

Very nice. He will appreciate it, I'm sure.

You should get a lifetime of front row seats at the speedway for giving him this extraordinary quilt. The entire quilt is a work of art, but the label just may be my favorite part of it.

This is beautiful. My husband is a sprint car fan, and we never miss the Knoxville Nationals. I will have to keep this idea in mind. Beautiful work.

Awesome and very creative.

I love what you did with the borders & sashing to break the monotony. I made one for my granddaughter & was not so creative & it was very boring to look at. Her t-shirts so she loved it but I was disappointed in the overall look. Wish I had seen yours first!! Great job!!

Thanks everyone for your kind words. He got a lump in his throat when he saw the label. In return, he painted a picture of what used to be my DH's stock car. That car is now being driven by a 16 yr old girl that my DH is coaching. They have done so well together that she finished 3rd in points this season. I think I got the better deal as I can't even draw stick figures.
