My Daughter is hosting a favorite things party and she asked me to make the bags. I made 20 of these. She bought the fabric from Walmart for dollar or two a yard. It is just polyester junk but fine for the bags. 2 blisters from the hot glue later... the bags are done.
Well she had leftover fabric, and I just couldn't let it go to waste....LOL so I asked her if I could play with the rest and she was excited to hear those words.
So here is what I did with the leftovers. I thought this would be cute for the table at the party.

Using up leftover fabric was one of the reasons quilting was thought up in the first place! Go you for keeping the dream alive!

Oh, you will just love it. A favorite things party is this: You invite a bunch of people to come and each person brings 5 things about $6.00 value of the same item to your party. At the party each person takes turns explaining why the item is their favorite thing and then draws numbers for the others to win one of their favorite things. Everyone will go home with 5 new things, that is what the bags are for. We will be playing games in addition to this to win other small items and we will have deserts. You can look up how others did a favorite things party on pintrest. There are many ideas posted there. Anyway, if you are in the mood to throw a fun party, check it out. :)

What a neat idea to use up the rest of the fabric for the party. I hosted a block swap here on the board by that name last summer. Very fun to see the favorite things they thought up. I think a little stuffed or ceramic kitten would be my favorite thing for your party.

What a great idea for decorating gift bags!!! So much nicer than just stuffing with tissue paper. Your table topper is just as cute.

mighty 07-05-2013 01:42 PM

Love them!!!!

What a cute idea, the bags are so special I would want to leave them out somewhere. And great idea to use the remainder of the fabric!

I love the bags AND the table runner. Nice way to use the leftover fabric. I am curious. What goes into the "These are a few of my favorite things" bags?

cherrio 07-06-2013 06:48 AM

cpcarolyn 07-06-2013 06:49 AM

Nice work.

javin22 07-06-2013 06:51 AM

These bags hold the favorite things you win from the other people that come to the party and bring their favorite thing to share. I wrote the explanation of how the party works if you look back on page one. It should be lots of fun. We are looking forward to our party.

...such a favorite bag idea!

SandyinZ4 07-06-2013 08:00 PM

What a cool idea for a party. This would be a good idea for a retreat, too. Each person could bring a few things and everyone would go home with a swag bag full of new and different things. It could even be sewing related....fq's, needle threaders etc.

javin22 07-06-2013 09:13 PM

I agree. I would love to have a retreat and do that. Someday.... ;)
