amma 06-06-2009 09:56 AM

I keep coming back here, again and again...I just love these blocks!!!! :D :D :D

cutebuns 06-06-2009 11:34 AM

The quilt is 70 by 94 if I am doing the math right. I am not sure of backing or anything yet, I found out that I don't have a lot of black for any kind of border, which I want in there. and I am not sure what other piece will be in there with it.

Thank you kwhite, I am not sure some times when I am looking at it that I won't go blind.

My fingers survived all the pressing, and there was a lot of it. i would do it all again.

I am still not sure what will happen to it when I get it done.

HisPatchwork 06-09-2009 08:04 PM

I would use a clover mini-iron, no steam or burnt backs of your fingers {right below your finger nails}when picking up the small pieces.

I jsut recently purchased a small craft iron, though it isn't aclover one, everywhere I went they didn't have any. I haven't done anything tiney since I got it though I am sure that will not be the case for long. I am doing the mystery quilt on Sun and I think there might be a small piece or two in that.

cutebuns 07-08-2009 04:09 PM

So anyone that was watching this before, It is now on the two fron bars and I am about to put it accross and pin it on the back bar, which means all I will have to do it fire up the machine and away we go, of course there is the little thing of what to put where and what color to do it in. I am thinking black on black, defeats the purpose of the balck if I add color, but then, what to do what to do in the middle, Yeah, I am scratching my head on that one. I have a bit, while working to think about it.

So here it is on the table, and now I am stuck, I have no idea what I am going to do, so anyone in the area, feel free to srop by and jump in and do it for me,

cutebuns 07-08-2009 04:58 PM

I was just looking and that would have been cool fabric for the OBW. opps, to late,

CajunQuilter2 07-08-2009 05:02 PM

Way better than I could do. Tried them that small with thangles no less & did not like how they looked so I gave up on that size for now. Will have to wait till I am a bit better at things before trying that small again.

cutebuns 07-08-2009 05:17 PM

I am not sure which is smaller, the HST in that quilt or the triangles in the mini quilt I did out of the OBW ends.

Marcia 07-08-2009 06:05 PM

Your quilt top came out great---now I cannot wait to see it quilted!!

cutebuns 07-08-2009 06:20 PM

neither can I.......

cutebuns 07-08-2009 07:05 PM

Tumbling spools have been decided on for the borders, now for something minimalist for the rest.....

cutebuns 07-08-2009 09:05 PM

So I am off and running, they are funny looking and will probably get a really good one the last one that I do on the quilt. They are cute anyway. I will see about pictures when i am done this row.

oh, I am on the right thread, I had to check to make sure. I got this far today on the quilt, all I have to do is trim and bind now. It was a learning experience more than anything, I had help as well doing some of it, not bad for the first one like this, I tend to say a lot as I ahve not done a lot on the big machine as of yet, I am hoping to widden that in the coming weeks.

I am up a little late but I wanted to get this done. A few interuptions today and all of that but other than a few stray strings, it is done. I hope you enjoy

Tippy 07-11-2009 02:33 AM

I have got to tell you that this is breathtaking..... you have done an amazing job... I'm totally blown away... Kudos.. you have a great creative eye.

cutebuns 07-11-2009 09:07 AM

Ty Tippy, and the Black is perfect with it. I am very happy with it. I don't think any other black wouold have gone near as good. so TY for that as well.

gaigai 07-11-2009 10:45 AM

WOW, Cutie, that is awesome!!!! I love the colors and how bright and cheerful it is! And the quilting is wonderful too! I am drooling all over my keyboard!

cutebuns 07-11-2009 10:56 AM

Don't drool to much on the actual keyboard, you might short something out. and that would be horrible becasue then you wouldn't be able to stop in.

TY gaigai, It was actually fun to do in a strange way. Hard to stay focused, I did a lot of it after my surgery and I found that being put under that it scrambled a few things.

Ninnie 07-11-2009 10:59 AM

WOW Cutebuns, that turned out great and I love it!!!!

cutebuns 07-11-2009 11:05 AM

The thing weights a ton, I went to fold it to get it out of my way, and it was hard, to mauch fabric, that is it, way to much fabric,

can someone remind me in the coming months when I am going to be planning and cuttin gout quilts not to do the tiny tiny pieces? it would help, even if you have to slap my fingers.

mrsj82 07-11-2009 11:07 AM

TY very much, it was definitely something I got a lot out of.

It is an old thread, I was slow getting it on the table as I had to wait for the black for the border to get here, and I am glad i did, it helps set off the quilt just right, I hate to use just plain fabrics with nothing on them, so this was perfect, not to busy with anything, I figured the quilt was busy enough, I still say son't stare at it to long or you will go blind,

mrsj82 07-11-2009 11:12 AM

I did have to don my sunglasses, but what a sight to see! It's gorgeous! And the black definitely makes it pop...if you're looking for a home for it, I can give you my address...lol

cutebuns 07-11-2009 11:19 AM

You will have to wait in line, I think it has a few offers before you, maybe it should just take a trip and go around and around, to bad I couldn't go with it.

burnsk 07-11-2009 07:06 PM

That is outstanding. The black frames it perfectly. You did a fantastic job on your quilt. All those tiny pieces - WOW. Did you get a final count on the pieces?

If you want to send it here to my home, you can come sleep under it here. I'll let you. Should I put the coffee on yet? I have some little lemon poppy seed muffins (home made). And if you stay a few days we could go to the Ann Arbor Art Fair on Wednesday. KB

Now Cutie, why would we slap your fingers when they do such wonderful work!! No way!!

Hey, I know, I'll gladly pay the postage if you send it to me! LOL

cutebuns 07-11-2009 08:05 PM

I don't think that I could lift the box, I am serious on how heavy the stupid thing is, really, and I used lightweight batting, not heavy, no warm and anything or what have you, I am happy it is done though,

just think of what I could do if I used big pieces!

sewsewquilter 07-12-2009 05:09 AM

Boy, I'm glad I didn't miss this quilts completion. The WOW status is HUGH! You did a great job of picking colors for it. And all of those small pieces. That is a quilt I would love to have on my bed. Thanks for taking us along on your quilting journey. It was fun watching start to finish. And what a finish. Your quilt is stunning. Can you tell I like it.
