Do these 10 minute blocks look ok or should I stop and start something else? Should I put sashing between the blocks or just sew them together. I am using batiks. Thanks in advance for comments.

My honest opinion? I want your avatar!!!

I would audition some sashing. Lay the blocks out on some fabric you might consider for sashing and see what it looks like.

I like it/them and would add an extra accent to the centres - similar to a cathedral window, and fold over the edges of the centre pieces. You could put fussy cuts, embroidery or trapunto quilting pieces in that spot and I think it will finish the effect nicely.

I really like this I think I would put a narrow sashing in a light shade.

Why not add to the confusion? I'd add a sashing of the same fabrics that your corners are made of. Honestly, though, the fabrics are beautiful and anything you choose will work.

I love your blocks! I think a sashing would look good! Whatever you decide will be great!

Gal 11-19-2010 11:20 PM

I agree with Grannie Annie, the black could act as a stain glass window effect and also make each block really pop out instead of all blending together. Love this pattern and I am going to try it myself.

They are absolutely awful. Here's what you do, pack them up and send to me at....

Seriously, I have seen so much beauty on this board, from people who seem unsure or not quite sure of what they have created.

Folks, there is a lot of talent on here.

These batik squares are very nice indeed, and I like them tremendously. I think the final quilt will be a treasure.

And my address is.....

I would add sashing also, about the colour of your centres or audition something darker that would tie everything together ie dark purple batik. Keep us updated on your progress... it looks great so far.

Your blocks are beautiful....can't wait to see if you decide to use sashing or not....either way, you have a winner! Great job....inspires me!

put black between...will make it pop

tdgiffin 11-20-2010 05:56 AM

I think it would be especially striking with black sashing.

Thank you ladies will keep going. And will post a picture of the final product. Hope we all live that long. lol.
And I will rearrange the colors. My hubbie knocked them off and replaced them when he got ready to take the picture for me. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I love those colors. It's going to be beautiful!

Matilda 11-20-2010 09:42 AM

I like it very much!

joeyoz 11-20-2010 09:58 AM

I think they look awesome.

RedGarnet222 11-20-2010 10:06 AM

I think if they were set on point with a thin verdiges green/blue they would look like a stained glass window. I love the batiks you have used for the blocks.

Mariposa 11-20-2010 10:19 AM

Sashing would be great. Either in the tan from the center, or in black. Very pretty so far!!

DoxieMom 11-20-2010 10:21 AM

I'd keep going. The blocks are pretty! I like the idea of black bias tape or narrow black sashing...

Looks good as is. How about trying to lay out some black bias tape and see if a "stained glass" effect is what you want.

lnikkers52 11-20-2010 06:11 PM

it will be beautiful no mater what you decide . nice job

wildyard 11-20-2010 10:05 PM

I must say that I was not very fond of the 10-minute square until I saw yours. They are stunning!!. I would not use sashing as I love the way the colors bounce off one another in their proximity. If I were going to sash, I think I'd go with the black, but I would use corner squares at each intersection to match the center colors. I'm wondering what size you used for your squares and for your centers.

I agree with this....narrow black sashing would just make the blocks pop. You are doing a super job & I love the fabrics you chose.

sawsan 11-20-2010 10:24 PM

I would add sashing in between black in my mind and feel confedent with your work and taste

sharone 11-20-2010 10:42 PM

I love your batiks in your quilt and think its going to be beautiful.

Annz 11-21-2010 08:08 AM

I think the blocks look beautiful. I would put sashing to make them all stand out individually. How about a color that compliments the center block?

spa 11-21-2010 09:27 AM

Sashing would be striking. Beautiful colors...

p38flygirl 11-21-2010 06:40 PM

sashing would make the blocks really stand out...
