    Quilt Bag

Every time I have a new quilt to show at quilt club it ends up going in a trash bag because none of my tote bags will hold a queen size quilt. The trash bag is a little sad compared to the pretty bags everyone else has, so I decided to try my hand at a cool bag.

This has all the fancy stitches on my machine done in wild colored thread left over from machine applique projects along with a little couching just for fun. If I ever make another one it will have some stiff interfacing in it. This one is a bit wimpy when empty.

I buy the large bags at the check-out at Home Goods or TJ Max to carry my quilts in. I also use
them when I'm gifting a quilt. They are a heavy plastic, and only cost .99! Your bag is beautiful
though -- I just don't have the time to make a bag.

Gorgeous. My friend would tell you her horror story of how her husband thought her trash bag with the president's quilt in it was trash and threw it out into a dumpster at work.

Very nice and colorful! Great idea having a bag to carry your quilt in. Especially after I read debcavan's post! How awful!

This is a great idea. Nicely done. Much better than using a large plastic store bag.

That's a terrific idea. Love your bag. So many times, our Guild requires a challenge submission to be put in a pillowcase or bag and for larger quilts it's a tight fit. So much better than a garbage bag. By the way, never ever put a quilt in a black garbage bag. I had a dear friend's husband throw away 4 heirloom quilts she was storing in a plastic bag in her linen closet. He tossed them without thinking that something precious might be inside. To him, it was a trash bag.

Noooo! That's awful..and reminds me of the time my hubby "donated" 2 quilt tops and 2 plug in warmer blanket throws along with the stack of afghans and scarves my mom and I had made for our local homeless shelter...Mom was in the hospital, I stay with her 24/7 when she has to stay. Hubby was doing some organizing, etc. He found the big box full of afghans and scarves, not realizing yours truly had "stashed" the 2 quilt tops and electric throws in the same box one day when company was unexpectedly stopping by..So much for my "quick cleaning"..lol.. What's worse is I can just picture the volunteers at the shelter wondering who is goofy enough to donate plug in throws for people who have no permanent address.

On the quilt tote bag, I love the idea...and the colors you used are terrific! Of course I am partial to green...

Thanks for sharing! That gives me an idea to make a bag, using some of the fabs in the quilt for my DGK. My oldest DGS grads next yr along with my oldest DGD…. Maybe they could use the bag for laundry?..
