Default quilt embellishments...

I am looking for some quilt embellishments for 2 Quilts of Honor I am making. They seem to be not very plentiful nor known about among quilt shops.
The only big chain store dealing with quilting and accessories is Joann's. They had a beautiful big star, but when I went to order, they said it was already sold out.
We live in the Midwest and don't see lots of extra items for quilting until it has been to both coasts.
If anyone can refer me to a quilt shop, retail outlet of any kind, which might have embellishments for quilts, send me a pm. Sometimes I miss a day seeing qb, but won't miss a pm.
Thanks,
Mariah

Are you looking for buttons, charms, embroidered patches, ribbons?

IMO - For a quilt that is to be used - as in keeping a person warm - the fewer things that can scratch or come loose or be problematical when being washed - the better.

Over the years I collected a large box of embellishments by shopping at large regional quilt shows. But, due to some mobility issues it's been several years since I have attended those. I don't know the vendors anymore who carried these products or if they still sell at these shows.

Embellished quilts were all the rage in the early 1990s, but they were usually pretty "artsy" for the time, or they were delicate florals with silk ribbon applique or "modern" crazy quilts. And most of all, they were wall hangings, not meant for lap or bed quilts.

"Honor" quilts are usually given as a "hug" of thank you and well wishes. Are you intending this for a particular person and know how they will use it?

If you are looking for fabric type trims here's a source:

Here for beads and charms: https://www.softexpressions.com/soft...harm/index.php

And even fabric.com has some that might interest you.

In our Quilts of Valor donations my group doesn't usually use embellishments as far as charms, patches, etc. We've been told that our men usually like to put them over their easy chair or couch, so they get lots of handling and use. Guess this is a judgment call for each individual to make. Thanks for honoring our service men and women.

Give this site a try. I have bought from them and had no problems.
