Default WIP Hanky Quilt wall hanging needs help embelishments

Christmas surprises. Color only known. had to ask.
I am looking into using pearls, beads ect. for embelishments. 11 1/2 x 11 1/2 inch block at this point. will have to square.
Three down.. next will be the two green orders. That will be a challenge. ! Green .. hmm.. maybe use multiple flowers and green borders.

All three do not have borders yet. One pink, red and blue.

I need to understand how to embelish without taking away from the design of the hankies.

Any suggestions welcome !

Blue corner flipped up. all four corners the same

Thanks!
Ell

Beads in the centers of the flowers.

not too sure if you want to embellish a hole lot
they are pretty all by themselves.

WOW - that is a lot of hankies per block! Don't know anything about embellishing but it looks very special the way it is.

found this cutting way on an HGTV video. the woman used beads and cord ect. as crazy quilts. I am more linear in design.. tried really hard to be free style crazy but.... did not come out that way. thanks for posting !

When I tried one of these, I thought the beads detracted from the beauty of the old handkerchiefs. I ended up using a bit of lace, some antique french ribbon, and I don't know if you can see it, but some strung pearl like beads to border the block instead. I turned my block into a pillow for the friend who gave me her mother's handkerchiefs. She keeps the pillow on her mom's old rocking chair.

Maybe you will be better at embellishing than I was. I only used what I had on hand. Your blocks and their composition are beautiful. You are very good at this. For me it was a one time deal as a remembrance for a friend.

I think they are lovely just the way you have them. If they are gifts, what about leaving them as is and suggesting that it would be a good place to display a favourite heirloom small pin, locket, etc?

I, too, think they are beautiful just as they are! You have done an excellent job of making these blocks and I don't see the need for anything more to be done to them! Good work!

thank you both.. neither suggestions did I think other than elaborate wall hangins with stuff hanging on them.. perfect for sticking pins or earrings once bound or.. a pillow for keepsake..
I love my friends from long long years.. It is my gift to them. we have cried and laughed together .. both bringing tears.. so a hankie item or two would be a great reminder of our time growing up and adulthood.
thanks so much for your compliments and suggestions. !

I'd like to know what you used underneath the hankies. Mine don't have near as much color as the ones I see here so I am thinking about embellishments also. Mine will be a wall hanging to include the hankie I carried when we were married and many that were given to me by children that I taught.
