I am making this baby quilt. I am using fleece for the backing. Do you think it would be ok to just tie it instead of quilting it...I would just be stitching the ditch.

Hope the pictures shows, or I will have to try again

That's darling!

If it's for a baby, I would take the time to machine quilt it. The ties can become loose over time and fall out and the baby could choke on them.

You could use the machine to "tie" it by using a tacking stitch.

Yes I have used a tacking stich to quilt a baby quilt but I would never tie one for safety purposes

I agree with the rest, quilt using a walking foot. :D

wow, this is good to know. I have done both, but haven't tied a baby quilt and now I won't!

It's best not to tie a quilt for a baby as the ties can come loose over time and be a choking hazard. I prefer the stitch in the ditch method for baby blankets.

Machine quilt it, it will last forever...You could do a cross hatch thur the squares but make what I call Wonky or wavy lines, no need to make them straight...
