Aye, that's my "basting" wall too - it's pretty much the only hard & flat space of any size in the house unless I want to move furniture and battle hairy animals!! I've tried using the bed but had bad results. The wall isn't perfect either, I tend to get puckers when I'm doing the quilting, which is frustrating, but so far that's my best solution. It works, sort of, "for now"...I'm still doing a lot of learning & experimenting so "sort of works for now" is kind of the theme from start to finish on most of my quilts, LOL!

Your FIL is going to LOVE it -- that's a very dramatic, 'manly' quilt - love the balance of colors and the deep golds you put in the border really brings out the other colors. Great job!!

Lovely quilt. I think you did a great job chopping it up and turning it into something different.

I've never tried basting on the wall. . . maybe I'll give it a shot. We live in a small condo and the carpet is really frustrating to baste on. I need to find a better option and spray basting is out due to family members with asthma. I'd probably get more quilts done if basting wasn't so annoying. I have three tops waiting for completion now.
