See the 3rd picture to see what the underside looks like. (I wish I had tightened the tension). The bobbin has the 30wt thread wound on it. There is no top thread. The needle mechanism pulls the bobbin thread up, a metal hook kicks the thread aside to skip a stitch, then lays one stitch down. It does not goes backward, it locks each stitch. It is indeed strange, but I love it.

We refer to those type pieces of fabric as "Convenience" fabric...sounds nicer than cheater. Great job.
