Default Rag quilt what did I do wrong

I washed this and then ran it through the dryer about 10 times and still the fray pieces are all over the quilt. What did I do wrong. Is it because it is flannel? HELP!!!!

I usually put a couple of towels in the washer & dryer with the rag quilt to pick up the threads and to help fray it. Yes the threads end up everywhere for the first little while. Empty your lint trap frequently during the process.
    Your quilt looks great!

The same thing happened to me. I ran it through the dryer a couple times and more came off. Also, I had a sweater "de-piller" (don't know if that is what it's actually called) that helped to remove the pieces that didn't want to come off in the dryer.

I love your quilt and fabrics! It looks wonderful!

If you have a sticky roller of one of those fuzzy brushes to take off lint they may help, but it will eventually quit shedding (flannel just takes longer)

I am going to tell on myself here, but whenever I make a rag quilt, I always take it to the laundromat to wash and dry. The commercial dryers are so powerful that the lint isn't a problem on the quilts (I wash the quilt twice and dry it twice as well). I also run the washer through a complete cycle afterwards with nothing in it just so there isn't any lint left behind to ruin the next customer's clothes. I do love your quilt though!!

It might also be the type of flannel used... you might have to pick a little

I haven't made one -- yet. I would like too. Would the use of a lint roller help remove the loose lint, etc.?
