I admire you for being able to do that quilt. I don't leave fabric choices up to the parents. I pull from my stash to make the baby quilt as I have to be able to like what I'm making. But you did a beautiful job with the project and the skull fabric doesn't 'jump out' at you.

It is hard to imagine a mother wanting skull fabric for her baby, but you made it turn out very nice. I'm sure they will love it.

Initially I just looked at your pics and read a few of the comments. Then I went back and read what you wrote. The expectant mom picked out the material. She/they were pleased with the quilt you made for their baby. That's wonderful! And that's all that matters. It's always challenging when you're working with material that someone else picked out.

I liked how you continued the theme of the skulls and added your own touch with the quilting in the 9P blocks. They have a unique quilt, unlike any other. Kudos to you and to them for not staying within the box!

From a slightly different point of view......... My grandson even has diaper covers with skulls on them! And, no - I didn't make them. They are nationally marketed by the folks who have brought back cloth diapering. It's a fad, I guess. Not hurting anyone - but certainly opening their eyes. I don't think the babies are aware of what skulls may mean to us older folks.
You did a great job with your quilt. I can understand the hesitation the fabric gave you - but you went with it and it turned out great. The quilting did show up really well on the minky. The parents will be pleased and the baby will be snuggled in soft and cozy. Perfect!
