Default Red-white and black scrap

I haven't posted pictures in quite a while but I am really excited about this one. I don't know the name of this pattern, but I think I saw it posted on here. I loved the idea of a fast and easy scrap pattern. This sure was. I saw a demo on YouTube and ordered the templates, but my order didn't go through so I left it go. Then one day it came to me how I could create my own pattern without spending $20 on templates. The quilt gives you the effect of an octagon without all the matching points. You work with triangles that are half of a square. ( I marked one square in green on the second picture.) I tried a few different effects using strips and true scrap pieces. I like it so much, I am going to make another one. The feathers on the black are a practice for one of the Craftsy classes I took.

Amazing--your quilting really is "just right" for the quilt. Thanks for showing us the block outline and for sharing your beautiful quilt.
