It turned out beautiful!!

All of the cabinets that I've bought have cup stains on them also. I wonder what these women were drinking    while they were sewing...lol!

What did you use to sand it...what type of sander?
ETA: I love that machine in that cabinet. The 2 tone green compliments the brown of the stain.

Yes, I don't have a picture of the original underside of the top. But, it must have had a good 8 cup stains. I think so many people have just used these as either end tables or bed side tables over the years and haven't gotten into the habit of using coasters! It took me a while, but the stains are gone. I wish I'd taken better "before" photos to show just how sad it looked.

I sanded by hand, with a mouse sander and a regular, electric sander.

Excellent work! You are so talented! I'm sure I'd either poison/gas myself or at least muck it up. Super job!

Candace, great job. What a lovely way to display and use your sewing machine.

WOW! It looks wonderful! I can only imagine how proud you must be! Enjoy the "kuddo's.. you certainly have earned them!
It's such a neat feeling to restore a piece of history. I did a desk for my daughter that was her grandpa's. It is walnut and she loves it.

Beautiful work. You should really enjoy working with her in her new abode for a long, long time.
