Sashing or no sashing?
#44
I think it would be nice to audition various sashes. My first preference would be to try the background white as a sashing so the stars really jump out. Very simple and the stars and your quilting would be the focus. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do.

If I were doing this, I would want to frame each one and make it a "star" on it's own. I'd probably have some fun with the different colors in the blocks and frame each one in a color that would bring the fabulous colors out. They are very striking, pretty blocks. Love the pattern.

Thanks so much, the star block is Maine Star and it's from a book called 50 fabulous paper-pieced stars by Carol Doak.
I'm using all my 30's scraps of fabric. off to the sewing room to get another block made.
Thanks again.

Looked through all the posts for this thread, did not see the name of this pattern; just love it! Please share your pattern name/source...now to answer your question, I think I would try both ways, but would most likely leave the sashing out and utilize the squares that are formed from the pattern for beautiful quilting. However, if that is not your thing, most definitely put in some sashing; love your fabric choices. This is a spectacular pattern and I would love to make it...if you will share your pattern name...thanks in advance and can't wait to see what you decide to do when you share your finished project!
