I have that book and looked up the instructions. She doesn't include anything on machine finishing the binding... only blind stitching the back by hand. That is how I have always done my bindings, but I'd like to learn how to machine finish a quilt binding that is attractive.

Love your quilt! The quilting really enhances the "simple" pattern (although I agree with you, sewing that many squares together definitely takes some time!)

For the binding, I've now machine bound two quilts and this is what I did: I've sewn the binding to the front as usual, then pinned it to the back and use a decorative stitch from the front, to attach it (hope my explanations make sense!). Here's a pic of my latest machine binding (sorry, the colours turned out not so great on the picture):
