Default Elizabeth Hartman's Dinosaur quilt pattern

Well, finally got this bad boy done for a little 2 yo boy who loves dinosaurs. Just found out though his family is having to move out of state for a job next month and I don't think I'll have it quilted and bound before they leave so it will have to be shipped to them once they're settled. I made the larger size and then added an extra 3" section to the sides to make it wider using leftover strips/scraps. What was I thinking trying to make this pattern with so many small pieces which is out of my comfort zone but now I think I can handle small pieces in the future. I always like a challenge and this pattern was a challenge for me. I won't say it's perfect, not even close, even had to add a strip of the background fabric at the top of one of the dinosaur blocks as it didn't come out tall enough to fit with the block next to it but who's to know. Then I make it even more challenging when I decided to go with diagonals for the extra side section. I can't count how many times I had to frog the triangles to get them to set correctly but I refused to give it up. The HST at the beginning of each color section where actualy cutoffs from one of the dinosaur blocks so I made use of even those. The binding is made up of the strip scraps also Hope the little guy likes it. The quilt came out at 78 x 88 and still needs quilted so I'll work on the quilting layout this weekend. Sorry about the photos but I don't have a good spot to hang the larger quilts to get a photo of the whole quilt all in one photos. Also I noticed the colors on the bottom half section seem a bit washed out but you can see a bit of that one color in the top half photo and its more to the true color.

If this little guy loves dinos, he will love it! Our 2 grandsons, aged 4 & 6 still love them and know all the proper names of those I never even heard of. I had already made 2 Elizabeth Hartman patterns: Fancy Forest for the 6 yr. old, and Awesome Ocean for the 4 yr. old so know well the amount of effort and organization this took for you to complete. You did a marvelous job and he will be "over the moon" thrilled.

What a lucky little boy he is to have you make this for him. Love your side borders....very inventive and great thinking outside of the box!

That is one full of dinosaurs quilt! Love their colors too! Looks larger than it is. I always loved dinosaurs for some reason.

Quiltwoman44. The blocks were either 10" tall or 18" tall so larger than normal blocks. You couldn't assemble the blocks going across as usual but going down making 6 sections of blocks, 3 across and 2 rows. Very unusual assembling.
