Default Harley Davidson tee shirt quilt finished, wahoo!

Just finished this tee shirt quilt two nights ago. It is for a customer, my first tee shirt quilt. I followed a lot of tips posted on this board, thank goodness. I found it fairly challenging. I stabilized the shirts as was strongly suggested. And still found the shirts wanted to stretch, scoot and wrinkle when I tried to machine quilt around the printed designs. I ended up taking all the machine stitching out of my first attempt. Then I hand quilted around the designs on the shirts, and the lettering. I machine stitched in the ditch on the sashing and borders. I used a purchased flame embroidery design with my machine hoop to anchor the corners and blank spots on the shirts. Added a decorative machine design on the border, and hey, presto, it is done. The flame fabric was the customer's choice after I showed him the fabric online. So, next week I will call him to come collect his quilt. Gee, hope he lies it. Learned lots of lessons with this one, for sure

Awesome job! Thanks for the tips. DH has a bunch of concert T's that he keeps hinting about wanting a quilt from--after he's finished wearing them that is.

This is great, thank you for sharing. My next lap quilt will be t shirts, from my aunts deceased son. Any hints are appreciated. I have already purchased my interfacing, and ordered a book.

A couple if things I forgot to mention....I think fabric sashing works better than putting the shirts directly against each other, to cut down on the stretching. And I definitely advise cutting a larger square from the shirt, ironing on the stabilizer, then cutting to size wanted. I used 16 inch squares as my finish size, to include as much if the logo as possible. Thanks for looking
