As long as I'm posting pics, here's close-ups of the embroidery patterns. My mom bought those years ago. Some of them I actually downloaded from the internet at Ann the Gran's or something or other site. There's a fellow in Australia who uploaded a lot of those fish patterns.

Back in the beginning when I was learning how to sew, mom taught me how to change the thread on her embroidery machine and let me make all those beautiful embroidery patterns. Then she showed me how to sew them into those crazy patch blocks.

So, those are my first sewing attempts. She showed me how to put in those corner stone blocks and to line up my blocks nicely and put the borders and backing on them. They're not really quilted, per se, just stitched in the ditch.

Then I went to work on the butterfly one.

And, I gave the fish one to my cousin as a housewarming gift for her new house on the water. Then the butterfly one I gave to a colleague that retired. I was showing it off and she asked if I could make her one. I told her she could have it for her new house where she was retiring and she about cried.

I guess she liked it.

Another fun pattern from Chantal's website.

Thanks everyone.

I'm going to attempt these.

The one is a recreation of Evelyn de Morgan's "Sense of Sight." I had the good folks at Paned Expressions make that pattern for me.

The other one is my attempt at her Helen of Troy portrait.

They're very large patterns, 36" x 36" and the other is even larger.

I'm pretty good at using the Wonder Under stuff. I need to learn how to make my own bias tape ...

This is "Norma." I made her in a special program. Trying to catch the Roaring Twenties era.

Helen. I love making these things.

Sense of Sight. Can't wait to embellish this one.

Cordelia, stained glass is easy? Is there a tutorial online I can look at? You sure did justice to that pattern!

Are you talking about the whale pattern? She calls it "Orcas." There is a little baby Orca in it which was too hard for me to include.

Here is the link for the Orcas.

http://chantalstainedglass.50megs.com/2orca.html

It's four pages you have to print, then tape together. Then go to Office Depot or Staples and have them blow it up as large as they can for you and you'll get a poster sized 24" x 36" (roughly) pattern to work with.

If you're really going to make the pattern, I'll tell you exactly how I did it. There's no tutorial. I'll just tell you what I did. Let me know when you're ready.

But, as you can imagine, the fun is the brilliant Hoffman batiks and water color fabrics you can use.

Some of my favorites:

Fox and mouse (great for young boy's/grandson's bedroom)

Thanksgiving Turkey

I definitely want to make this one!

Breaking wave. (I definitely want to do this one. It will be a huge splash of color.)
