and look what I found for $10. She does need some TLC but now she has a good home. The sphinx decals are in perfect condition, just covered with dirt. She was born on December 30, 1910 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, now she lives in Toronto. She is a model 27. I will need to buy a few parts, and clean her up some, but lucky me! Please excuse the pics, I took them with my Blackberry.

That is just like the one in my parents home! Theirs is a 1880s ish model. It was so funny as a child i never knew the treasure that was hiding inside and i would sit underneath it a play with the pedal. They have the sphinx on theirs as well.
I will have to take a pic and write down all the information so we can look it up and see more about it.
Thank goodness i asked my mom about it last week.

Thank you for sharing this! I love seeing these machines be put in a loving home.

Holy cow!! you are one lucky girl. T hey obviously did not love it, so it's great you were able to rescue her!! :) Can't wait to see how it works once you get it fixed up.
