Default some quilt recipients from our Christmas efforts

I'm sorry for being so slow with this, but I got sick right after Christmas. Then, we went to Kenya where my husband taught a course for a couple of weeks. So, I'm just now getting around to putting these pictures up.

Sometimes it is good for us to see happy smiling faces of quilt recipients. (Maybe I should call them comforters, since they are tied, but in Polish it is the same word.) These people were "lucky" enough to win a drawing for a quilt at our Christmas outreach that we have before Christmas. The people who win the drawing get to choose a quilt of their choice of about 30-40.

The pictures of people with multiple quilts are of people who were personally referred to me as "could use" a quilt so I invited them to come over and meet me at the church/charitable organization's headquarters and pick out one or more. A couple of the recipients are actually workers for another charity. (Since I make the quilts, I can decide who get them and I thought that the workers could use them as well.)

One thing I noticed through this is that I need to make more "masculine" quilts--it seems like most of the ones I make were very flowery or "pretty" colors. When the men had to make the choices, there weren't so many. Also, many of the women were looking for "dark" colors which surprised me.

It is so fun to give stuff like this away. I'm sure I get more pleasure out of it than the recipients, though I think they really like them.

Just after Christmas, when we had given away about 80 lap quilts/baby quilts made by 2 older ladies in AZ, I saw a lady pushing her baby around with a stroller and she was using a pretty baby quilt. I recognized it as one of ours and spoke to her (I didn't know her personally). It was nice to see something beautiful bringing pleasure to people.

I know that you all don't know me, but many of you make and give things to charity. Most of you probably never get to see recipients, so, you may pretend these are from the charity of your choice and get a thrill out of looking at the smiling faces.

What a wonderfully thoughtful idea! They are lovely. Looks like so many will be "comforted" and warm. Many blessings in this new year!

You have made my day. It is really good to see that your work (hard work) was going to these people. May God bless you for this.

You we're very busy. What kind of batting do you use? Your quilts look fluffy.

I only have polyester batting available here, so that is what I use. I can use different thicknesses.
