Default Son's Camo Quilt

This is a quilt we finished today for our son. We had made double sized camouflage quilts for each of our 2 grandsons. Our son then said he was jealous and he wanted a camo quilt for his king sized bed. Then he added "but not pink camo".
The quilt is 100" x 100". We had made and quilted a queen sized quilt on my standard sewing machine and decided we didn't want to do a king size that way. I found a video that showed how to do it "quilt as you go". That worked out qreat! The blocks are 10" x 10". We made the blocks about a half inch bigger and quilted them. I then trimmed them to exactly 10" square and then put the blocks together using sashing on front and back. The panel in the middle is 40" by 30" so that worked out good.
Since he said "no pink camo", we found a small piece of pink camo and worked it into the quilt. The colors don't show good in this picture but the pink is one stripe in each of the corner blocks.
The top & bottom borders are pictures of wolves.

Definitely not pink, but definitely huge and turned out great ... he'll love it! a touch of pink camo has to be the 'makes you smile' addition...

Can't stand camo, but I really love the way you put the quilt together in a way that honors what the recipient wanted (camo), and incorporates the scenery and wildlife into it so well. The touches of pink camo will make him smile for the rest of his life when he looks at his quilt. Its a beautiful quilt -- I'm love how you did it!

I'm not a big fan of camo quilts either, but this one is beautiful. And the pink was a nice touch.
