I do handstitch them. I have to have something to do while I am sitting with my hubby listening to books on tape. He is blind and gets lonesome if I am always at my sewing machine and the balls are easy to work on either at home or in Dr. offices where we are an awful lot of the time. They also use up a lot of the scrapes from the community quilts that I have been making at home. This would be a good project for kids as it is a good way to teach them to handsew and the simple balls like the total pentagon or the flower ball are almost no brainners. All of them can be sewn with the machine. I have made a few that way too but enjoy handwork on these tiny pieces.
