Nice work Henry, but that's exactly why I'm chickening out and using a modern method for the quilt I'm working on for my nephew. I need seven of them (in two sizes) and needed them done (like yesterday!).

Are you putting these beauties into a quilt for her?

Steve, i love your new avatar...i've been wanting to try this star pattern too, but the thought of trying to set in the outside triangles and squares has stopped me. So i love your photo...is it strip quilted or paper pieced? Did you make that, it's beautiful!
PS Oh my gosh, i just realized your gold corner pieces are going to come out as small stars, wow!

Steve,

No I am not going to put them in a quilt they are going to be wall hangings. I do not have the energy or fingers free of needle pricks to do 8 more to make a quilt.

Barb, if you get a chance check out the book "Stars by Magic" by Nancy Johnson-Srebro. You don't work with triangles, just sew squares and rectangles and cut the diagonals later. I've still to perfect the technique as my quarter inch seam isn’t quite 'scant' enough yet, but it makes difficult stars fairly easy. Well, easy enough for a beginner like me that is.

I liked the yellow best Henry; maybe because it's bright and that's the kind I love to wish upon.

Of all things, I went to start the stars for my nephew’s quilt today (inspired by Henry) and of all the fabrics I've got stockpiled not a single bit of white to be found. Next stop Joanne’s!
