Natalieg - Jan. 20 - posted photos of how she organized her stash. It is so, so neat and very, very organized. She said she "ruler" folded the fabrics to get the uniformed size. So, today I went to Joann's and bought a 6 1/2 x24 inch ruler and have started the folding. THANK YOU NATALIEG for your photos and directions. If you have not seen it yet, please do so as it is such a big help in storing your fabric.

Below is just the start of my refolding my stash.

this is how I was organizing my fabric

I refolded some of the fabrics (the middle row) using the ruler and look how uniform and neat it is and it is giving me more room in my small sewing closet.. Now, back to redoing all the fabric...

It looks so pretty. Your own little fabric shop. You might want to add to the inventory since you've gained more room. LOL! Well, just if you see something that catches your eye! ;)

That is exactly what I am doing today. Folding all my fabric uniformly and neatly placing on the shelves. Feels soooo good to be organized!!

I started doing this yesterday too! I really thought long and hard about buying fabric organizers (aka boards) first but due to the expensive nature of them I just decided to ruler fold all my fabrics instead of going that route. I'm going to see if that works for me! They sure look a lot neater than they were in all my plastic bins! I'm going to do some more today.

I spent a couple of hours a day for about 2 weeks this time last year folding all my fabric this way!! It really made a difference!!! I can see at a glance just what I have!!!
AND it is still just as neat as the day I finished folding!!
It is very easy to pull out fabrics to 'audition' and then put them back!!
    I just love this method!!!!
