Default Start 'em young

My grand dauchter is starting to learn how to sew using my FeatherWeight. It is the first time it has been used since I bought it. It really purrs. Right now she is learning how to control the speed with the foot control and to sew a straight line by following lined notebook paper. She is a very confident child and now that she has learned a little, she wants to get the maching running too fast and I have to remind her to slow down.
She will start sewing on fabric soon. I will have to draw some straight lines on the fabric for her to follow. But for now she is soing great and when she really concentrates she can follow a line as well as I can.

Looks like she is having fun! If she keeps racing the machine, you may be able to put a 'stop' on the pedal so she can't push it beyond a certain point. Depends on the design of the pedal...

Love the look of determination on her face. A sewer in the making.

You go, girl!!! But she'll fall so in love with your Featherweight that it might follow her home... LOL! She's a doll & I think it's AWESOME that she's being introduced to sewing & quilting at such a tender age!
