Default T-Shirt Memory Quilt done!

Just wanted to let everyone that gave me encouragement during the trials of making this quilt, that it is done.

I had loads of problems with my sewing machines during the project, it was unbelievable. But it is done now.

I made a couple of memory bears extra. The couple the quilt was for, have now divorced, sad. So the large bear, made with fleece pjs of the daughter, is for the father of the little girl, and he loved it, his words were "it made my week" I was so touched by his reaction.

I haven't seen the mother yet, she is getting the quilt and the small bear, made with daughters baby clothes. I still have to stitch the mouth on it.

I also plan on making pillowcases with applique using the left over pcs of t-shirt for the family. She has 2 brothers, one is my granddaughters boyfriend. I felt bad not having anything for them, but I didn't think they would want a bear. You know how Teenage boys are.

Aww, the bears along with the quilts are so-o cute! I like that you used the same sashing for the blocks, too. Can I ask what stabilizer you used for the t-shirts? I'm just beginning a t-shirt quilt and know I need stabilizer but am miles away from a quilt shop where I might touch and select so am trying to decide by reading descriptions.

All of the pieces of the whole are beautiful to start with. You bought them together in a very special way. The quilt is perfect and the bears will be so appreciated. This labor of love will be a memory forever.

Wow, what a quilt. Your bears are so adorable. I so admire those that make t-shirt quilts, they sound challenging from all the threads I have read on them. Great finishes, love the pillow case idea for the teen boys too.

Thank you all for the complements. I actually love designing my quilt tops and I enjoyed working on this quilt minus the machine problems and a few other situations that got in the way of working on the quilt. To b.zang I used a lightweight iron on interfacing. In fact I just ordered more on line at Joann Fabrics. Iron it to the back of the t-shirt before you cut out your block. Also if the blks are different sizes, it great to have a design wall to put up and arrange and size the blocks. Mine is covered rigid insulation board from lowes. I also finished the mouth on the little bear, she didn't look right without it.
