Default Yard Sale-Quilt Sale Find

Long story, but bought this bag of 42 already cross-stitched squares at our quilt groups Labor Day show (we also have a rummage sale of quilting items) 2 years ago. After purchasing the squares for $25, found out one lady in our group had received these as a gift from a friend (found at a yard sale)about 2 years before that! So I vowed I would do something with the squares since she had decided to give them up!

Well, it was finished this last Monday then washed and put onto my bed! It is huge. I hand did embroidery around all the elements(center and corners) in a running stitch and then did french knots on the rays. What was I thinking! It took me about 9 months to get it all done, but I think it turned out great.

I wondered though if anyone has ever seen this design and could tell me what it is? I've been looking at all the sites that sell stamped cross stitch kits but nothing is close.

Wow! Amazing find! Thank you for finishing the quilt! It would be a shame to waste such beautiful blocks. You did an amazing job!! Thanks for sharing!

I don't know the name of the pattern but it looks very similar to one my mom made years ago. She bought her stamped squares from Herrschner's. Don't know if they sell that pattern any more or not.

I do believe it was a Herschners block - but have never seen anything that close to it. So it must be an old print!
