That is absolutely stunning! Was the book called Tradition with a Twist? I would really love to find this pattern.

I searched with google for Trip around the world quilts --navajo and found a listing for the book.
it is TRIP AROUND THE WORLD QUILTS By Blanche Young & Helen Young
I've had my book for many, many years so the book is probably out of print, but you can probably find a used one someplace.

this book has cardbord templates that you use for the stripcutting. I only made one that way and then figured out how to do it in what I thought was a simpler way.

Since I make lots of quilts using the same pattern, I ususally have to figure an easy way to strip piece.
I have probably made this pattern seven or eight times.

Oh, forgot to add this information about the book. It has all these quilts in it, which are considered trip around the world quilts.
Streak of Lightning
Sunshine and Shadow
Evening Shadows
Navajo
Many Trips Around the World
Trip Around the World

I thought it had Boston Commons in it also, but I must have had a complete book of that pattern.

This looks like it has that pattern also.

Will look for the book you suggest. Really must make one since seeing yours.

Sheila, I can't tell if the Navajo pattern is in that book or not. The pieces are 2 1/2 by 4 1/2 if you want to chart it. I think I cut my strips 2 1/1 and sewed the strips together in panels, then sub cut intp 4 1/2 strips.
i could probably find one of my charts and post an image of it for you.

We have the Tradition with a Twist book and it has the Navajo pattern in it. We haven't tried anything out of the book, but they look easy to follow and we're looking forward to making something out of it. I think we got the book at Ed McKay's, a used bookstore in Knoxville.
