This is the top of a wallhanging/table mat (take your pick) I'm making for a handmade gift exchange. My gift exchange partner is a woman from South Africa. I'd like to visit South Africa some day, and so I'm kind of excited that we are partners. She'll be making something for me too. I have no idea what it is.

This still needs quilting and binding, but the top is finished. I'm going to do some straight-line quilting as pictured on the pattern. It should be pretty simple. I picked up the pattern at a quilt shop in Las Cruces, NM. It's called Southwest Flavor by Joan Basset, who lives in Ajo, AZ.

It is very nice and it shows a southwest style which is like a native style to show your SA pal. Very nice.
peace :D

Thanks. That's kind of what I thought too. I had in mind either this little quilt or else a travel jewelry pouch that I make on my embroidery machine. When I learned she was from SA, this seemed like the better choice. It went fast. I might make one for my DIL for Christmas now that I've done it once.
