I found all this thread mostly on wooden spools at thrift shop today fro $5.50. Empty small and large spools in plastic containers were 50 cents. I paid $3.75 for plastic containers to put the spools in. Good find. Happy Dance!!!!

What a great find. Just be sure to check the thread to make sure it's still in good shape. If it's on wooden spools it could be quite old. A friend of mine used some old thread and had tons of problems with it breaking. She thought it had sort of a dry rot. Not that yours does, just check it out carefully first.

I have had great luck with old thread lately. I think it's better than some of the new stuff. Congrats!

Some of the real small spools in the front say 100 silk on them. I haven't seen these small spools before. Thank You for this tip. I will be checking it. If thread is not good I like the wooden spools.

Wow! Those old wooden spools are great for so many things! We doll collectors place them between the bisque feet of old china dolls to keep them from knocking against each other and breaking..

My aunt was a seamstress in the 60s and 70s and when she died, my dad (her brother) brought me a huge grocery bag full of wooden spools. Thank goodness she didn't throw sewing things away (she wasn't a hoarder like on TV). When my daughter was small my husband made her a canopy Barbie bed and used some of the spools for bed posts.
