At our quilt guild meeting this past Thursday, the Opportunity Quilt committee unveiled the newest Op Quilt. It is quite amazing!! The theme is Mother Goose, and the blocks are colored with crayons, appliqued AND hand embroidered. It will be getting a bit more quilting on it, but I wanted to share it with y'all. :D:D:D

a bit closer on the center, Mother Goose block.

Gorgeous!! I don't normally like "cutesy" quilts but there is no denying that is one beautiful quilt!

    What is an "opportunity quilt"?

the guild sells tickets and the purchaser has the "opportunity" to win it. great money maker for most guilds to allow them to operate and provide things like community quilts, etc.

Cute as a button quilt!! We call that OP a Raffle Quilt. We do one a year and sell tickets for $1 to raise money for our budget. We only have 35 members. Without this fundraiser, we could not afford even local speakers.

Thanks! We'll be taking it around to lots of shows & other venues to sell tickets on it. It will be hanging at our show the first weekend of May 2012, until we pull the winning ticket on Sunday afternoon. :D
