I was able to find a bird in the upper Left corner. I think that is a perfect cuddle quilt.

Thanks, beachlady! Sashiko is a form of Japanese quilting. Here is a link that more fully describes what it is. I'm going to try my hand at it with this quilt and see what happens. Will post pictures. My hubby is half Japanese so I have found the crest for the Japanese side of his family and will use it for the pattern.

IFW, that method of quilting sounds very interesting and very exacting. Good luck - looking forward to final quilt.

Well, are you done yet?? Just kidding, it is really pretty and we can't wait to see your japanese quilting. I've seen pics of it before and it looks so interesting and also looks like it would be fun to do. Let us know and please post progress pics!

I got started quilting it last night. Quilting with Pearle Cotton #5 takes getting used to and quilting in the "traditional" Japanese way without a hoop is interesting but I like the effect of the #5. I'll post pictures as I go along but please realize it is my first time doing this type of quilting...so I'm sure there will be mistakes....LOL!

Thanks so much for all the kind remarks........you ladies are gems.......

    Linda D.
