blue batik gifted today - such fun!
#1
I recently posted about making a top with the Yellow Brick Road pattern and HOffman batiks. It was a gift for a friend who recently lost her job in my school. I made the top - then showed a mutual friend who wanted to quilt it and another mutual friend did the binding and another one helped pay for the materials. How awesome is all that?
Today the 4 of us who worked on the quilt invited the honoree for lunch. We had a great time visiting, then we each pulled out a project for show and tell. The last one we pulled out was the one we'd made her. It was great. She was so pleased. I had named the quilt "Transitions" and she seemed to appreciate that too.
This was a strange one. I woke up one morning with the idea - make Mary a quilt and make it blue. So strange - like a calling. Isn't it wonderful that we who practice this craft/art/skill have something so tangible and wonderful to help people through both the blessings and the hardships they go through?
