Talking Too large for my dsm!

I made this quilt from strips that we got on a shop hop three or four years ago. Each shop gave you a 2 1/2 inch wof strips from 2 different Gradient fabrics by Blank. I purchased a couple of yards of my favorites and cut strips from them. Then cut strips from a solid black I had. After sewing the strips, cutting to length, and resewing, I ended up with a 96 by 116 quilt. I knew it was too large for my dsm and have 3 quilts at my long armer right now, so I went to a lqs and rented their machine for a day! It was a hard 7 hours of sewing, but it is all done by me. (The long arming will never win any prizes!) Whee! What a quilt!

Third trip to the long arm machine. It is fun but I will never be as good on it as my professional long armer. I also love using my dsm for smaller quilts. I have a 120 by 120 in progress and it will go to her!

The thread you chose for quilting is perfect with those lucious colors in your blocks. Nice job.

The colors in your quilt with the black are really beautiful. The multicolored thread in the quilting really sets it off.

Wow! Very nice quilt and very nice quilting. I'll have to remember the design, it would be perfect for my son. Hope you don't mind my copying your design. Isn't copying a good compliment?

Copy away. I don't mind sharing when asked! As a matter of fact, I am glad to share.

I used 2 1/2 inch wof strips of the colored fabric and sewed them to 2 1/2 inch wof black strips. I then cut them into 6 1/2 inch long strips. I sewed the black to the colored and then alternated the strips. I sewed a 2 1/2 wide black border around the quilt. Mine grew to 96 by 116. You can make yours as wide and long as you decide by adding/substracting 6 1/2 inch blocks to each strip and adding/subtracting strips to the width of the quilt.
    Sew it up with pleasure!
Then post a picture and let us see how it turns out. Hope your son will enjoy it.
