so what do you all think? was the border a bad choice? it is hard to see in the pic, but the green has dots of blue and yellow that exactly match the blue and yellow in the quilt. but it is almost as though the stars fade from the bold border and sashing. of course the pic isn't showing exactly the colors, but close.
    would appreciate feed back.

I think it looks great!!! good job...I'm working on one that i think might be too pink..at least that's what my mother said, and i'm just on my 2nd block. I decided to shake her negative comment off and do it anyway. your quilt is beautiful!!

Obviously, it is a beautiful quilt and too late to change it now, but if I were making it again, I would make the small stars a darker fabric. They do tend to disappear into the background.

I didn't even see the light blue in the borders the first time I looked. Contrast is so important!

Love It! The border gives it a fresh, modern look and feel to it! It is not a traditional style, but who says every quilt has to be traditional? And as you said, the picture does not accurately show the colors, either. Keep up the beautiful work nanabirdmo! Love seeing all of your projects :D :D :D

it's already a quilt to be proud of. :P

if you want to make the stars "pop" back out, try quilting around them with a daaaaark blue thread, or one the color of the green in the sashing. quilt almost in the ditch to outline as closely to the stars as possible without having the thread disappear into the seams.

a small blanket stitch in either the dark blue or green might also do the trick.

    cathe
you are so right about contrast. i usually seem to choose a focus fabric, in this case it was the blue of the stars. then i build a quilt around it.
i paper pieced about a gazillion stars, and then i realized the blue was one of those weird colors that isn't compatable with a LOT of other colors.
oh well, we learn with every new project, don't we? :?
