Default Tranquil Waters

Got this longarmed and bound all in a day! While the pattern is Missouri* Double Slice, the fabrics remind me of the ocean and beaches. I chose Celtic Waves for the quilting, a 80/20 cotton wool blend for the batting, King Tut thread, Batiks are Sandpiper from 2 layer cakes from Hoffman (from 2015). I drove 2.5 hours to Lunn Fabrics to try to find border fabrics and it was worth the drive, and, I didn’t buy more fabric either! The backing is a wide back from Zen Chic, that is the softest, silkiest backing I have ever felt, it’s white with grayish green writing that really matches the outer border perfectly, it is 77 x 100 and will make a great couch snuggler.

Beautiful! I love the colors. Great job on not buying extra fabric... LOL. I didn't know that was possible.

I love it! The quilting is what catches my eye, then the colors.

Definitely a beach quilt with those colors and the quilting! Treasure the story of finding that perfect border for it too.

Nice! You mentioned the backing as being very silky, could it be a sateen as I find my sateen backing to be so smooth and the drape is fabulous. Only problem I find with the sateen is that it ravels terribly as I use the scraps in my quilt making. Haven't found anything but solids in the sateen too. Again, nice colors.
