I did not make this quilt - but it is MINE! We did a "brown bag challenge" at my quilt guild - we each put in 2 fat quarters and any embellishments we wanted, and said where we would like to have a picnic. The guild added another FQ, numbered our bags, then handed them back out to us & we then made a quilt using the items in the bag, plus any more fabric &/or embellishments we wanted & depicting the picnic theme. Lucky me! Ann T. got my bag - I said I'd like to picnic in a tropical paradise. She told me she was so inspired, that she finished the quilt in only a week or so (we had 3 months to finish!), and had it hanging in her quilt studio - and she had a hard time handing it back when the time came! lol The name comes partly from the backing fabric, which is covered with sushi!

Isn't it? Those palm fronds actually are "loose" from the background too. Here are a couple of detail shots...
Oops - sorry the one shot is sideways!

palm fronds & 'coconuts'!

What a beautiful quilt. Such creativity to pull the design together and also enbellish it. You certainly are lucky Ann T. got your name.

The flamingo was cut from a piece of flamingo fabric. Fun, isn't it? 8)
