My quilts are ready to be sent but i'm a little upset because they wanted the binding zigzaged and I feel that it looks messy. Is there a way to do it better on the next quilt?

I don't know. I zigzagged the ones that I made for them. I think that it makes them a bit messy looking too unless you make them perfect all the way around. But thats impossible for me. But we have to do what they ask.

I did the funky monkey one like the one on the right. In the same colors. That was my very first one I did for them. :)

I did not zig-zag the bindings on my quilts but sewed them with a 2.6 straight stitch. I received a "thank-you " for the 4 quilts I sent and no mention about the incorrect bindings.

The kits I got did not say I had to use ziz zag, just recommended it . Of course they will not refuse them. They have volunteers available to 'fix' those that really need it. I did mine with the blanket stitch.

I think that they want to make sure that single stitches don't come out cause the kids pick at the bindings. I would think any well stitched binding, other than single stitch would be OK. I've actually used double needles on some of my bindings.

I thought the zig zag looked a little messy too. I did it on my first one, but I used a decorative stitch on my 2nd one....I figured it was the same result...lots of stitching on the binding.

It seems to look pretty good on the front but went off the edge on the back. Is there a way to stay on the line on both sides? I would like to do more but I would like them to look nice and not be stressed about it!!!!!!

I just mailed mine and the instructions did not say anything about zig zag.
