Dresden Plate Table topper
#1
Hi Everyone,
Some of you may know from my posting of this project yesterday in the Main section that I started off on the wrong foot by adding one too many wedges to my topper and then wondered why it wouldn't lay flat. Well, now that that minor irritant is history, I now have a new question to ask you all.
I'm wondering if I should run a stitch 1/4" away from the edge all around this topper? So far, I've sewn the Feather stitch down each wedge seam and around the center to attach it. It looks nice to me this way, but I'm a bit concerned about the 'lock stitch' unraveling at the edge of the topper if I don't cross it with another stitch.
How reliable are these 'lock stitches'? Do they hold pretty well? I expect this piece to be laundered, and I don't have that much experience with this stitch so am asking all you knowledgeable folks.
If I should run a stitch 1/4" away from the edge, should I repeat the Feather stitch or what else would look okay?
Thanks so much.

how are you attaching your piece?
My first dresdon ( 30 years ago) I had a machine sewed edge before attaching to quilt top.
now, have learned, if hand sewing onto fabric, that was not neccessary.. just up to style of your quilting too.
I don't think there is a wrong answer. more of an answer, how not to have frayed edges to protect your beautiful work.
Good luck !
