Well, I undertook this project as a back to my DS's quilt and I'm so disappointed in my results. I really like the block itself, but not in the colors I chose. I think it's the ugliest I've made yet. The background material I used was much too busy, should have chosen plain. Sooo, will put on the shelf until I can buy more plain green, then I'll put them together and use for something, don't know yet.

I think I'll just stick to a non-pieced backing for his motorcycle quilt. It was just too big of an undertaking at this time.

Win some, lose some.

I Gave Up at this point

Weren't you going to add sashing to this to break up the busy fabric?

This is going to be a great quilt. I like it paired with orange. Orange and blue, how can that be bad? Persevere and let us see what emerges.

I dearly love the star pieced blocks. I think you are right about not going well with the other fabrics. The right fabric will come along and the stars will pop!

I think your idea of something more plain between the star blocks is a good idea. I think the stars are fine, I would probably use a light yellow like you used in the star blocks, maybe a marbled one. Just my thougts. I'm sure you'll come up with something.

Thank you for your encouragement, in the end I think I was reaching a bit past my stash for the right colors to incorporate. I'm waiting til tomorrow to go to the store, something is bound to show up there :D . If not, I'll put it away for another time.

Sometimes I push myself too hard to complete things much too quickly. Patience is a virtue.
