Here is the final attempt. I had asked a lot of questions about applique. I am still trying to master it. I don't like it as well as piecing but it is neat. So I thought I would post what I finally came up with. I starched the heck out of the back and the applique piece was also starched. I then used a spray bond to stick it to the block then I satin stitched around the butterfly making sure to stop and pivot the needle at the turns. So I think it turned out pretty good. Anyways here it is.

You must really know how to work your sewing machine. For your first attempt at applique your stitches are perfect. Very good job.
